Carson-Newman Designates Saturday’s Basketball Doubleheader with Lenoir-Rhyne as Skivvies for Haiti Night

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman€™s home basketball doubleheader with Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday has been designated as Skivvies for Haiti Night.

The Lady Eagles and Eagles tip off against the Bears at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively, at Holt Fieldhouse. All kids 12 and under will be admitted free with the donation of underwear sizes 2-14 that will go to the children of Haiti, who are in serious need of help after last Tuesday€™s devastating earthquake.

Collection boxes at Saturday€™s games will be located at the entrance of Holt Fieldhouse. Cash donations will be accepted as well.

Courtlyn Walsh, the 5-year-old daughter of C-N women€™s basketball coach Dean Walsh, came up with the idea after learning that only one out of every 150 Haitian children have appropriate underwear. Courtlyn€™s goal is to collect as many pairs of boy€™s and girl€™s underwear sizes 2-14 as possible.

Courtlyn and her mother, Courtney, have also set up drop-off locations at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City and The White Balloon located in The Gallery Shopping Center in Knoxville.

Saturday won€™t be the only opportunity to make donations at C-N. Children 12 and under have the opportunity to receive free admission to any of C-N€™s remaining regular season home games upon receipt of an underwear donation.
