Bio

2023: Whitson started the first three and the final three games of the year under center for the Eagles. He wrapped up the year completing 60-of-128 passes for 984 yards and nine touchdowns.  He also ran the ball 43 times for 154 yards and a score.  His best day passing came at UVA Wise when he was 10-of-14 through the air for 188 yards and three scores, including an 85-yard pitch and catch with Galen Washington.

  • CSC Academic All-District

2022: Carson-Newman's second-string quarterback in 2022, Whitson appeared in seven games for C-N.  He completed seven of 19 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.  He also rushed 14 times for 42 yards and a score.  He saw extended time in the Eagles' opener at West Georgia (Sept. 1) due to an injury to starter Ivan Corbin.  Whitson completed 3-of-8 passes for 40 yards against the Wolves, including a 29-yarder. He tosses his lone touchdown pass in the finale at Catawba (Nov. 12) when he hooked up with Korey Waters for a 27-yard TD.  His lone rushing TD came at Mars Hill (Oct. 22).  

PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Did not appear in any games at MTSU.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-year letterman in football and basketball at Dobyns Bennett High School, He earned 6A all-state honors twice while also being tabbed the 6A Region 1 MVP on two occasions. Was also a two-time Big East Conference Player of the Year. His TD to Interception Ratio was 40:3. Threw for 3,690 yards combined as a junior and senior. As a senior he threw for 1,783 yards, while rushing for 628 yards and nine touchdowns
