BALTIMORE, MD.—The Carson-Newman beach volleyball team wrapped up the season with two more wins Sunday afternoon at the Stevenson Sand Tournament as the Eagles took down Stevenson 4-1 and Morgan State 5-0 to sweep the last tournament of the season in 4-0 fashion.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman beach volleyball team tallied a sweep of duels action Saturday afternoon, taking down Lincoln Memorial 5-0 in the first and 4-1 in the second in what was the first-ever home contest in program history.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.—For the first time in program history, the Carson-Newman beach volleyball team will host a match at the Carson-Newman Sand Courts as the squad welcomes Lincoln Memorial to Mossy Creek for a pair of dual matches beginning at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Columbia, S.C.—The Carson-Newman beach volleyball team finished off the Gamecock Invitational Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to Texas Christian and a 5-0 defeat from the tournament’s host, South Carolina, to end the four-day trek through Palmetto State.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – A battle of the top-two teams in the South Atlantic Conference is slated for Friday evening at 7 p.m. from Wingate’s Cuddy Arena. The Bulldogs (21-2, 15-1 SAC) have won nine straight regular season titles and have a one-match lead on the Carson-Newman Eagles (21-4, 14-2 SAC). A win for Wingate would give the Bulldogs a two-match lead in the standings with five contests to play while a Carson-Newman victory would give the Eagles a share of the league-lead.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior middle blocker Maddie Borch (Walnut, Creek, Calif.) was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week and sophomore setter Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) was tabbed the Specialist of the Week the league announced Tuesday. Patton earned the honor two weeks ago on October 13.

Carson-Newman had won 17 straight road matches in league action dating back to a sweep to Queens (N.C.) on November 9, 2013.

Carson Newman Volleyball had an extremely productive and exciting week leading up to the two matches over the weekend. Every practice was filled with intense competition! Every player left the gym knowing that they got better that day. We made sure to mix up the teams a bunch and several people played positions that they wouldn’t normally. But, like coach says, be a volleyball player first and a specialist second. We are so blessed as a program to have people who can be put in any situation and excel!
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (18-3, 12-1 South Atlantic Conference) held the Mars Hill Lions (5-15, 3-10 SAC) to a -.023 attack percentage in a 25-22, 26-24 and 25-20 victory Tuesday night at Stanford Arena. The attack percentage is the lowest by a Carson-Newman opponent since September 24, 2010 when Newberry hit -.045.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore setter Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) became the seventh Carson-Newman player since the beginning of the 2014 season to earn a weekly honor from the South Atlantic Conference. The league announced Tuesday that Patton was tabbed as the Specialist of the Week.
GREENWOOD, S.C. – In a match decided by just six points that featured 24 ties and 11 lead changes, the Carson-Newman Eagles (15-3) swept the Lander Bearcats (16-6) Saturday afternoon at Horne Arena in the final day of the South Atlantic Conference/Peach Belt Conference Challenge.
AIKEN, S.C. – On the opening day of the South Atlantic Conference/Peach Belt Conference Challenge, the Carson-Newman Eagles (14-4) defeated the Augusta Jaguars (10-6) 25-23, 23-25, 25-14 and 25-18 to begin Friday’s action at the Convocation Center. In the nightcap, the Eagles fell 14-25, 21-25 and 19-25 to the University of South Carolina Aiken Pacers (13-3).

SALISBURY, N.C. – For the fourth straight match, the Carson-Newman Eagles (6-1, 3-0 South Atlantic Conference) earned a sweep. Friday night at Goodman Gym, the Eagles defeated the Catawba Indians (4-6, 1-2 SAC) 25-19, 25-17 and 25-16.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman was one of three teams to pick up a first place vote in the 2015 South Atlantic Conference preseason poll as the league announced its preseason coaches’ poll Wednesday. The Eagles were picked fourth picking up 96 points and picked up a first place vote for the first time in a preseason poll since 2011.
