KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For a second straight season, Carson-Newman senior forward Jack Browder (Kingsport, Tenn.) has been named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, the The National Awards Committee and Small College Basketball announced Wednesday evening, Thursday afternoon.
The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestgious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.
This is the fifth time an Eagle has earned a spot on the watch list. It also marks a third straight season where C-N has had a player recognized. Browder joins Charles Clark (2016-17 and 2017-18) as the only two-time members of the list. Nick Brenegan (2023-24) is the fifth player who has received recognition.
On February 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15th, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 5th, the finalists of this year's award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 7th.
Browder has 1,717 points in his career and is eighth all-time in scoring in Carson-Newman history. Browder is sixth among active NCAA Division II players in career scoring and 27th among all players in all divisions.
Browder turned in 10 straight 20-point games, the longest streak in school history from Nov. 29 against Augusta to Jan. 10 at Lenoir-Rhyne.
With 778 career rebounds, Browder is fourth among active Division II players in career rebounds. Browder, plus Hall of Famers Mike Ogan and Tommy Everette are the only three members of the 1,500/700 club in Carson-Newman history. Browder is the only player in the NCAA era to do that.
Browder is one of three active players in NCAA Division II with 1,700 career points and 700 career rebounds. Carl Cleveland at Young Harris and Dylan Kuehl at Northern Michigan are the only others in NCAA Division II. Browder's 778 rebounds are the fifth-most in school history.
With 37 career double-doubles, Browder already has career mark for Carson-Newman for all-time double-doubles (at least in the NCAA era where we have game-by-game stats). He has the second-most double-doubles among active NCAA Division II players, behind Young Harris' Carl Cleveland's 34. He has the 11th-most double-doubles amongst players in all divisions.
Browder is the only player in NCAA Division II to lead his league in scoring and rebounding. Browder and Young Harris' Carl Cleveland are the only players in the country in the top 25 in both scoring and rebounding. Browder is fourth nationally in scoring at 23.5 points per game and seventh in rebounding at 10.9 boards per game.
