HICKORY N.C. - Carson-Newman's track and field team come home 10 medals, after a two-day competition at the Southeast Regional Championship at Lenior-Rhyne University.
Sophomore Cassadine Blassingame not only took the gold in the men's long jump event, he also managed to snag the bronze in the men's triple jump.
This will mark the fifth time during the 2013 season that Blassingame has taken the first place position in the men's long jump competition.
Other Eagles who received medals were sophomore Randall Freeman who grabbed the silver for the men's javelin throw as well as the bronze for the men's shot put. Sophomore Darius Childs got the bronze medal in the men's 110 meter hurdles. Finally senior Stephen Brown took home the bronze medal in the men's high jump.
As a team, the men took third place in the men's 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 42.32.
The men's group had members place in the top five in eight different events.
As for the women's group, freshman Jessica Azor finished in the top three in different events.
Azor grabbed the silver medal in the women's 100-meter hurdles event with a final time of 16.70. The freshman also received third place in the women's javelin throw and the women's shot put.
Senior Hannah Reese finished in second place taking home the silver in the women's 1500-meter run with an ending time of 4:58.08.
The women's team finished in the top ten in ten different events.
For the overall competitions, the men's team ranked in fourth place and the women's team ranked in fifth.
