CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Aubrey Morris finished in first place with a time of 18:25 (5k) at the Citadel Invitational to help lead her team to their 7th place finish, while the men's team earned a 9th place finish.
Morris was followed by junior Cara Hawkins who finished 30th with a time of 21:19. Melissa Ford followed Hawkins with a time of 21:25. Caitlin Dake slid in the 4th Carson-Newman slot with a time of 22:20. Senior Laura Young finished in 51st place with a 22:22 time. Just 30 seconds later, teammate Audra Jordan crossed the finish line at 22:52, while Lauren Henry finished for CN at 23:07.
The women finished in 7th place overall with a team score of 160. The men raced well to finish 9th in The Citadel Invitational with a 204 team score during their 8k race.
Jonathan Madden crossed the finish line for the Eagles with a 29:04 (8k) time. The 39th and 40th place spots were taken by junior Jordan Backus and freshman Chris Cowan-Banker with times of 29:44 and 29:46 respectively. Juniors Miles Wyatt and Ben Fry added to the Eagle effort with times of 31:23 and 31:56 to finish in 60th and 64th place.
The Carson-Newman Cross Country teams will head to Belmont, N.C. next to run in the Belmont Abbey Invitational, Saturday, October 4.
