CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Perfect Game, one of the leaders in baseball scouting, released their annual summer collegiate league All-American teams. Rising senior Vince Apicella (Dillsburg, Pa.) was named to the second team after a lights out season for the Geneva Red Wings of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman alumnus Steve Cishek was traded from the Miami Marlins to the St. Louis Cardinals Friday afternoon in exchange for Double A pitcher Kyle Barraclough. Cishek, a six-year Major League Baseball veteran, had spent his entire career in the Marlins organization since being drafted by Miami in the fifth round of the 2007 Amateur Draft.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Vince Apicella (Dillsburg, Pa.) matched a single season school record with his sixth complete game of the season in a 4-0 Carson-Newman (25-21) victory over the Trevecca Nazerene Trojans (30-16) Tuesday evening at Jackson Field to tie a bow on the 2015 season for the Eagles. Since joining Division II in 1994, only Ben Deaton in 1998 and Brett Hontz in 2008 have tallied six complete games in a single season.
