2023-24: McElhaney appeared in 10 games for C-N and scored 11 points to average 1.1 points per game. He also had 11 boards on the year for a 1.1-rebound average. He topped out at four points against Milligan (Nov. 27) and had a pair of three-rebound games against the Buffs and at Catawba (Feb. 3).

2022-23: A CSC Academic All-District selection, McElhaney logged his first career starts in his red-shirt sophomore season. A consummate glue guy, McElhaney has averaged 2.2 points per game on 68.8 percent shooting.  He averaged 3.9 rebounds per game.  McElhaney had a career game at Catawba when he tallied a career-high 10 points and eight rebounds along with three steals. He had seven games with at least five boards, including a career-high nine at Mars Hill (Feb. 8).

2021-22: The redshirt-freshman appeared in 17 games off the bench averaging 1.3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.  In a season-high 15 minutes at No. 6 Queens (2/5), Mcelhaney scored a career-best seven points. It marked his first career game making three field goals.  A third of McElhaney's points this year came in the game against the Royals.  He produced a season-best four rebounds against Lees-McRae (11/17) in the season opener.  

2020-21: McElhaney appeared in 20 games off the bench, averaging 1.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.  He scored six points twice, burying a pair of threes against both Anderson (2/3) and Mars Hill (2/17). He snatched a season-best six boards (three offensive and three defensive) at Tusculum (1/6).  He had his only two steals of the year against Anderson (2/3).  

HIGH SCHOOL: McElhaney averaged 10.5 points and eight boards per game to go along with 4.0 assists in his senior season at Sevier County High School.  He was a 1,000-point career scorer for the Smoky Bears.  He helped SCHS to back-to-back district titles, a region title in 2018-19 and an Elite Eight appearance at the state tournament the same year.  He earned all-region and all-conference honors on two occasions. 

PERSONAL: The son of Michael and Ida McElhaney, he plans to study business at Carson-Newman.  He finished his high school career with a 4.0 and was a member of the National Honors Society and Beta Club.  He also ran cross country as well as track and field.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carson-Newman’s men’s basketball program has been named a recipient of the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Team Academic Excellence Award and three Eagles have been named to the NABC Honors Court, the organization announced last week.
