SALISBURY, N.C. – A chip-in by Anthony Marcinelli (Knoxville, Tenn.) on the fourth playoff hole of the South Atlantic Conference Championships propelled the Carson-Newman men’s golf team past the Coker Cobras and allowed the Eagles to capture their first conference title since 2014 on Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, N.C.

SALISBURY, N.C. – After more than four inches of rain in the last 24 hours at the SAC Men’s Golf Championships in Salisbury, N.C. caused flooding on the Country Club of Salisbury’s back nine, the tournament committee decided on Monday to change the tournament to a 27-hole event rather than the 54 that were originally scheduled and cancel all play on Monday. The competition will be completed with nine more holes on Tuesday.

SALISBURY, N.C. – Led by the trio of Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.), Anthony Marcinelli (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.), all of whom sit in the top 10, the Carson-Newman men’s golf team owns sole possession of first place following day one of the South Atlantic Conference Championships, which took place on Sunday at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, N.C.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Tom Forster (Oundle, England) became the first Eagle in more than five years to be named South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year on Friday and he also garnered a spot on the All-SAC First-Team. Teammates Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) and Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) were selected for the All-SAC Second-Team.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Carson-Newman men’s golf team has earned a tie for the No. 25 spot in the Golf Coaches Association of America national poll. This is the first time this spring the Eagles have earned a spot in the national rankings.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Following a regular season that saw the Eagles pick up a victory at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate and compile the third-best stroke average in their conference, the No. 25 Carson-Newman men’s golf team will head to the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, N.C. for the South Atlantic Conference Championships, which will begin on Sunday and conclude on Tuesday.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Each individual who serves as a coach at Carson-Newman has a long list of accomplishments they put together before coming to Mossy Creek. Basketball coach Chuck Benson spent time as an assistant coach for the Tennessee Volunteers. Jordan Taylor swam for the Great Britain national team. Nick Reveiz had a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For women’s golf coach Suzanne Strudwick and men’s golf coach Randy Wylie, their paths to Jefferson City included more than 30 years at the professional level. They each won multiple tournaments while living out their dream of playing pro golf. Said Wylie: “It was a great experience along the way.”
