JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer program has signed six players for its 2013 signing class, announced by head coach Richard Moodie on Monday. Three of the six signees are from the state of Tennessee, and Moodie believes this signing class will add talent to the 2013 Eagles roster.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman men’s soccer junior defender Trystan Dafydd (Y Felinheli, Gwyned Wales) was named to the 2012 NSCAA Division II Men All-Southeast Region Third Team, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America earlier this week. Dafydd, in his first season in a Carson-Newman uniform, started all 17 matches at defender picking up one assist and anchoring the Eagles’ back line of defense.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The second-seeded Carson-Newman Eagles men’s soccer team fell to the third-seeded Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in overtime 1-0 in the semifinals of the 2012 Food Lion SAC Soccer Championship at Mancester Meadows on Friday night. The match was scoreless through regulation, forcing overtime where LMU would pick up a golden goal in the 99th minute from Diego Deschmap on an assist by Mario Pinto to end Carson-Newman’s conference tournament run.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The second-seeded Carson-Newman Eagles men’s soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 Food Lion SAC Soccer Championship with a 4-0 victory over the seventh-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in the quarterfinal match of the tournament at McCown Field on Wednesday evening. The Eagles will next head to Rock Hill, S.C., for the 2012 Food Lion SAC Soccer Championship Semifinals, which will be played on Friday Nov. 1 at Manchester Meadows.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Five Carson-Newman Eagles earned All-South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer honors, announced by league officials on Wednesday morning. Goalkeeper Rumwald Le Guevel (Vannes, France) and defender Trystan Dafydd (Felinheli, Gwyned Wales) earned first-team All-SAC honors, while forward Taylor Jolley (Morristown, Tenn.), midfielder Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway), and defender Evan Preston Kelly (Galway, Ireland) picked up second-team All-SAC honors.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The South Atlantic Conference announced that the 2012 SAC Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be moved from Tuesday to Wednesday Oct. 31 due to pending inclement weather, meaning that Carson-Newman’s game against Lenoir-Rhyne will now be played at McCown Field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team (7-5-3, 5-1-3 South Atlantic Conference) rallied for a pair of goals late in the second period en route to a 2-2 two-overtime draw against the Mars Hill Lions (13-2-2, 8-1-1 South Atlantic Conference) at McCown Field on Saturday night. While Mars Hill wins the regular season SAC title, the Eagles with the draw finished alone in second place in the conference standings despite being picked to finish sixth in the preseason SAC poll.

DAYTON, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team (7-5-2, 5-1-2 South Atlantic Conference) fell to the Bryan Lions (11-3-1) by a 2-1 score in the second overtime at the Bryan Soccer Stadium on Wednesday night. The match was deadlocked at 1-1 until the second overtime, when Bryan’s Alan Da Costa scored the game-winning goal to end the match in a 2-1 victory for Bryan.

Four players scored in the Carson-Newman victory, as the Eagles posted their top goal-scoring match of the season.

The women’s match between Carson-Newman and Anderson will begin at 4:30 p.m. while the men’s match between the Eagles and Trojans will follow at 7 p.m.

HICKORY, N.C. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team (6-4-2, 4-1-2 South Atlantic Conference) fought to a double-overtime 1-1 draw against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (5-5-3, 2-3-2 South Atlantic Conference) at Irwin Bell Track on Saturday night. The Eagles trailed 1-0 with just under six minutes left in the second period before forward Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway) scored to even the match at one. The goal is the fifth of the season for Welo in his first year playing for Carson-Newman.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. The Carson-Newman men’s and women’s soccer program will host a pair of alumni soccer scrimmages as part of Saturday Oct. 13th’s homecoming festivities at Carson-Newman College. Former Eagles are encouraged to take part in the men’s and women’s alumni games, which will begin at 10 a.m. on McCown Field.

BREVARD, N.C. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team (6-4-1, 4-1-1 South Atlantic Conference) defeated the Brevard Tornados (1-9-2, 1-5-0 South Atlantic Conference) by a 1-0 score on Wednesday evening. Junior midfielder Lucas Siqueira provived the lone goal in the victory, scoring on an unassisted shot in the 68th minute of the match as he collected a rebound of a free kick off a wall of defenders and then shot past the Brevard goalkeeper Jack Shaw to the right in what would be the game-winning goal of the match.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team (5-4-1, 3-1-1 South Atlantic Conference) got back on the winning track with a 1-0 victory over the Catawba Indians (6-3-3, 1-1-3 South Atlantic Conference) on Saturday night at McCown Field. Junior forward Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway) scored the match’s lone goal, as he took a cross from senior forward Taylor Jolley (Morristown, Tenn.) in the 30th minute mark of the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, which would be the final score.
