Bio

2019: Caldwell finished the year second on the team with nine home runs and 27 RBI. The power-hitting outfielder tallied 41 hits in 125 at-bats with nine doubles.  Caldwell picked up right where she left off from her freshman season and extended a hitting streak out to 11 games to open up the year.  She raked in 11 multi-hit efforts and seven multi-RBI games.  She produced the fith and sixth three-hit games of her career against Mars Hill (4/16) and Newberry (4/22).  She matched a career high with a four-RBI day in the SAC tournament title game against Anderson.  Of the final six games of the year that Caldwell recorded a hit, five of those efforts went down as multi-hit days.

Honors:

  • SAC All-Tournament Team

2018: Caldwell morphed into one of the South Atlantic Conference's best hitters.  Caldwell had the fifth most doubles (14) in the league and the second most among freshman in the conference.  She led Carson-Newman with runs batted in (45), and was fourth in the league in that regard, and home runs (eight).  The Kenova, W.Va.-native has a SAC player of the week honor to her name. She earned the award on March 6. Caldwell helped Carson-Newman to a 3-1 week with a split at Concord and a crucial in-region sweep of Limestone.  The freshman was 7-for-15 at the plate for the week, hitting .467.  She slugged a stupefying 1.000 over the four games.  She had multi-hit games in three of the four games the Eagles played this week and also drove in multiple runs in three-quarters of the contests. Caldwell hit four doubles in the twinbill with Concord.  In fact, six of her seven hits on the week were for extra bases. After hitting .279 for the month of February, Caldwell has acclimated well to college softball. She hit .347 in March with a .444 batting average in April. She also earned alll-tournament honors for the SAC tourny. Caldwell was 5-for-11 at the plate with two RBI for the weekend.  She had multi-hit efforts against both Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson in the quarters and semis.

Honors:

  • All-SAC
  • SAC Player of the Week (3/6)
  • SAC Tournament Team

HIGH SCHOOL: The state of West Virginia's home run leader for 2016, Haley Caldwell will join former Spring Valley Timberwolf Taylor Scott on the Eagles' roster.  Her junior season, Caldwell clocked a .535 average with 53 RBI.  She was named first team All-WVSSAC.

PERSONAL: The daughter of Angela Caldwell, she plans to study biology at Carson-Newman.  She was a member of HOSA and SOAR.  She chose Carson-Newman over West Virginia Wesleyan, Ohio and the University of Charleston.
