2023: Indoor - Blackmon won gold in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.19 seconds at the Bast Cregger Multi Invitational. He won again at the Winter Classic in 8.04 seconds. During the SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Blackmon second in the event with a personal best time of 8.01 seconds.
Outdoor - First place in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.62 seconds to open the outdoor season. Blackmon grabbed a new personal best in the event during the preliminaries at the Tennessee Invite (14.36). He finished the event in fifth place in 14.38. Blackmon grabbed sixth at the Georgia Tech Invitational in 14.50 seconds. He won silver at the SAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 14.33 seconds.
2022: Indoor - Blackmon placed first in the men's 60-meter hurdles in 8.41 seconds at the ETSU Track and Field Invitational. He finished first again at the 2022 Buccaneer Indoor Track and Field Invitational 8.20 seconds. Blackmon racked up another gold-medal performance in the 60 hurdles during the U of SC Indoor Open (8.31 s).
Outdoor - Won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.72 during the Lee Invitational to open the season. At the Electric City Invitational, Blackmon finished first in the event in 14.71 seconds and grabbed a personal best in the 100-meter dash in 11.20. He finished second in the 110 hurdles at the 2022 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 14.67 seconds.
High School – Blackmon was top-10 in the state for the 110 meter hurdles his senior year of high school. With the Pirates he won the Cape conference championship in the event twice and was a two-time district champion. He also placed third in the state in the event. Also played football in high school and intends to do so at Carson-Newman.
Personal: Son of Matthew Blackmon Sr. Was named homecoming king for Palm Bay Magnet High School. Chose Carson-Newman over Livingstone, Tusculum and Louisiana Tech. Intends to major in exercise science.
