2025 Second Team Indoor All-American
SAC Athlete of the Week (April 30, 2024)
2025: Indoor - Opened indoor season with a second-place high jump finish and a height of 2.02m at the John Weaver Invitational hosted by Appalachian State. Shined in the Finn Pincus Invitational, taking home first-place finishes in the high jump and long jump. The Finn Pincus Long Jump event not only set a new PR for Sam, but at the time, it was the eighth-best long jump in the nation at the Division II level. Finished in tenth place at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the long jump, just one position out from qualifying for the event finals, he earned his first All-American honors while being named a Second Team All-American.
Outdoor - Competed at the Tennessee Invite for his lone event of the outdoor season, finishing 10th in the high jump, 1.93m.
2024: Indoor - Set former PR, placing second in the long jump at the VMI Invitational with a distance of 7.19m. Had a first-place finish at the VMI Winter Classic in the high jump with a height of 2.05m. Finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the long jump and high jump at the SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Outdoor - Set PR in the high jump at the first meet of the outdoor season, the LR Bears Open, setting a height of 2.10m en route to winning the event. Saw three consecutive first-place high jump finishes at the UNC-Asheville Bulldog Invite, App State Open, and won the SAC Outdoor High Jump Championship.
PERSONAL: Attended the Saint Vincent Grammar School, but finished his final two years of high school in Jamaica. Grew up in Petit Bordel, about an hour north of the capital city of Kingstown, SVG.
