Eagles position themselves well on the first day of the SAC Outdoor Championships

The weather forced some events, including pole vault and triple jump, to be pushed back to Friday. Making Cadence Dolgin, Katie Edmunds, Kendall Whitehead and others wait their turn.
As for those in action, the sprinters for the Eagles continue to shine, led by Amine Kasmi and Rylan Jordan on the men's side, and Lovelyne Larrame on the women's.
In the men's 100m, four members of C-N qualified for the final, led by Kasmi's 10.24-second dash in a downpour, sixth-fastest in Division II and fastest of the prelims. Jordan was just behind him at 10.35 seconds, for the third-fastest. Taylor Madison and Dawson Jones also reached the finals in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Later in the 200m, Kasmi set the fastest time in Division II this season with a blistering 20.48 seconds. The sophomore, Jordan, also reached the finals at 20.90 seconds, third-fastest in the preliminaries.
On the women's side, Larrame set the fastest time of the first day in the 400m, at 54.69 seconds. Her teammate, Axelle Ombelets, also reached the finals with a 57.62 for the sixth-best time.
The pair also cracked into the finals for the 200m, with Larrame taking fourth at 23.89 seconds, the 18th-fastest time in Division II this year. Ombelets notched 24.62 seconds, taking sixth in the preliminaries again.
Also on the track, Abiram Pramod advanced to Friday's finals in the 400m with his time of 48.58 seconds. Lidija Djokic qualified for the 400m hurdles finals with a 1:02.12, the fifth-fastest time.
In the field, Brooke Taylor and Meiah Moss moved on to the long jump finals that took place on Wednesday afternoon. Taylor finished in fourth place at 5.64 meters, and Moss placed sixth, 5.41m.
With the multis, both Verrol Sam and Meiah Moss sit on the podium heading into tomorrow in their respective events.
Sam is in first place with five events remaining in the men's decathlon. He took first place in the 100m and 400m, while claiming second in the high and long jump, and third in the shot put, through the first five events. The junior is 206 points clear of the next-closest opponent. Meanwhile, teammate Daniel Heath is in sixth place heading into tomorrow.
Sam also qualified for the 110m hurdles finals with a time of 14.85 seconds.
As for Moss, the talented freshman is in second place, trailing Ally Holmberg from Wingate by 205 points. Moss took first place in the 100m hurdles and high jump but came in second in the shot put and 200m behind Holmberg. Just long jump, javelin, and the 800m remain on the docket for Friday.
The final day begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. with the women's javelin, and the men's decathlon's final events starting at 9:00 a.m. from the Food City Sports Complex. Fans can watch the events unfold with a subscription to FloSports.
