Bio

2023: Martinez retained his redshirt after appearing in three games. He was 1-for-3 through the air with a five yard touchdown completed at UVA Wise (Nov. 4).  

HIGH SCHOOL: Martinez went 15-0 as Anderson County’s quarterback en route to helming the program to a 4A state championship. He was a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Finalist and the Region 2-4A Offensive Player of the Year.  He pulled in player of the week honors from WATE, WVLT and WBIR and tallied 55 passing touchdowns and 4,088 yards passing as a senior.

PERSONAL: The son of Mike and Holly Martinez, he plans to study business at Carson-Newman.  He is Microsoft Word Certified and graduated high school with honors and distinction.  His grandfather, Steve Williams, played football at Austin Peay.

WISE, Va. — On the first play from scrimmage, Carson-Newman nickelback William Johnson III stepped in front of a pass from University of Virginia-Wise quarterback Jake Corkren, hauled it in and raced the final 16 yards into the end zone.
