Wykle nets first SAC Player of the Week nod in 2022-23

The Greeneville, Tenn. native's list of honors grows to 25 with Monday's announcement being the sixth time in her career that she was a weekly winner by the SAC. She averaged 29.5 points, five rebounds, 1.5 assists, one steal and one block in wins over Tusculum and Newberry.
Kicking off the week, Wykle was on the floor for 48 minutes in a two-point triumph over Tusculum in double overtime on Wednesday. The junior racked up a career-high 39 points going 15-for-28 from the field burying five trifectas while adding seven rebounds. The tally was good for the fifth-best in Division II for the year and it was the sixth time in the All-American's career that she racked up at least 30 in a game.
Three days later in a 14-point road win over Newberry, the three-time All-SAC selection scored a game-high 20 points in 33 minutes for her third straight 20-point scoring outburst.
Carson-Newman's second all-time leading scorer is closing in on 2,000 career points and is less than 500 away from the all-time record. With 228 triples, she ranks second in school history behind Tatum Burstrom's 254.
Among active Division II players, Wykle ranks second in scoring average with 18.8 per game, good for 11th across all NCAA divisions, fourth in free-throw percentage at 86.1, sixth in total points with 1,857, ninth in three-pointers and 10th in three-point accuracy at 41 percent.
For this campaign, the junior guard ranks seventh nationally making 92.2 percent of her foul shots, 16th in scoring at 19.4 and 12th in made field goals with 121.
Wednesday night's game against Limestone will be the 100th of her career as she has produced 88 career double-digit scoring efforts including 16 this season with 50 games of at least 20 points.
Carson-Newman returns home to Holt Fieldhouse on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. hosting Limestone with broadcast coverage airing at 5:15 with "The AEC Countdown to Tip-Off" on the Eagle Sports Network.
