The Carson-Newman Classic all-tournament team selections were made by coaches present at the tournament. Coaches had to vote for one player from their own team and then two from opposing teams. Eagle head coach Shannon Mincey said that voting process makes Hayes' selection all the more impressive.
"Angelle tried to keep our energy alive throughout the entire tournament," Mincey said. "It's tough to be recognized as a libero, so being selected by opposing coaches is certainly an honor. A lot of what she does for our team can't be seen on paper either so I am proud she can be recognized for her performance this weekend."
Joining Hayes on the all-tournament team are Armstrong Atlantic middle hitter Brittany Wolf, Francis Marion outside hitter Liz Drewry, King College outside hitter Summer Kremer, Lees-McRae outside hitter Angela Morse and Lincoln Memorial middle hitter Blair Fowler.
Carson-Newman started the season 0-2, losing in two, five-set matches in its own tournament.
