C-N Cross Country Run Through Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Eagles raced hard during their second meet of the season. The women picked up fourth place in the Eye Opener Meet in Spartanburg, S.C. at USC Upstate and the men finished fourteenth.
Senior Aubrey Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.) won for the second consecutive week, and the ninth time in her career.
The Lady Eagles finished 4th of 26 teams in the meet Saturday morning with Morris finishing first, followed by Tiffany Winchell (White Pine, Tenn.) in 11th, Melissa Ford in 44th and Cara Hawkins (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) in 45th. The Lady Eagles finished the day with 166 points.
The Men's Cross Country team picked up a 14th place finish out of 24 teams. The Eagles were led by Jordan Backus (Roanoke, Va.) in 45th place overall and Chris Cowan-Baker (Knoxville, Tenn.) in 54th place.
The Men and Women will race in Huntsville, Ala. at the Fleet Feet Sports Invitational on September 20.
