Kids Day, Hall of Fame Weekend, Breast Cancer Awareness - slew of promotions set for C-N's return to Burke-Tarr Stadium
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman has unveiled a slew of promotions for Saturday's 1 p.m. kickoff for Lenoir-Rhyne, the football program's first home game in a month.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman has unveiled a slew of promotions for Saturday's 1 p.m. kickoff for Lenoir-Rhyne, the football program's first home game in a month.
The matchup is Hall of Fame weekend, and members of the 2021 Carson-Newman Athletics Hall of Fame class will be recognized on the field between the first and second quarter (the sextet will be formally inducted into the Hall in a ceremony Friday evening in Stokely Memorial).
Additionally, fans are encouraged to wear pink for breast cancer awareness and the contest has also be designated Kids Day.
Children 12 and under get in for free in association with kids day.
Meanwhile, the first 100 fans in attendance will receive free think pink t-shirts, stickers and pom poms. Giveaways will start when the gates open at 11:30 a.m. Donation buckets will be located the front two gates upon entry, and throughout the stands. All proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Brad and Emma Bowlin, husband and daughter of late Carson-Newman Cheer Coach Christy Bowlin will conduct the opening coin toss.
Finally, the Texas Roadhouse student tailgate will return to the football practice field beginning at 11:30 a.m. Res Life and Multicultural Services are playing host to this week's tailgate. Students must show their student ID to receive their free meal courtesy Texas Roadhouse.
Kickoff between the Eagles and Bears is set for 1 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast on the Eagle Sports Network starting with the AEC Tailgate Show at noon on Joy 620 (WRJZ-AM, Knoxville), Mountain Sports 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
