"I'm looking forward watching these swimmers take their last oppurtunity to show what they have been able to accomplish this season with the amount of work they've put in," said head coach Ben Young. "The one's that got invited have put in a ton of work throughout the entirty of the season. They've had their ups and downs with training and staying focused throughout the season, but they have been ready to execute their races in the times it mattered most. Hats off to them for their work this season, and that's what I am most looking forward to this week."
The Eagles will send five swimmers to compete at this season's national meet. C-N Swim earned three individual invitations, and two other swimmers will travel to assist in the qualifying relay events. The championship races are slated to kick off on Mar. 11 at 1:00 p.m. with the 800-yard freestyle relay finals. However, the Eagles will join the action on Mar. 12 at 10:00 a.m. The full meet schedule can be found HERE.
Megan Corcoran earned an invitation for the 200-yard Butterfly, 200-yard IM, and 400-yard IM. At the 2025 SAC Championships, Corcoran put together one of the best performances as a freshman. The SAC Championships saw Corcoran set a new school record in the 200-yard Butterfly with a first-place time of 1:59.33. She would go on to secure gold medal finishes in the 400-yard IM and 200-yard Butterfly, as well as silver medals in the 200-yard IM and 400-yard Freestyle Relay. Corcoran was named the SAC Women's Freshman Swimmer of the Year.
Corcoran will first take to the pool on Mar. 12 for the 200-yard IM, beginning at 10 a.m. She will then compete in the 400-yard IM, which will take place on Mar. 13, and the 200-yard Butterfly on Mar. 14.
"It's been a breath of freash air geting to coach Megan this year," said Young. "She has already had a massive impact on this program just in her freshman year. Getting to see her get to this point and knowing what's ahead of her is fantastic to watch. Hoping that she stays present in the moment and takes in the experience of being a freshman here at Nationals, especially as an invite swimmer."
Looking at the men's side, Daniel de Oliveira was selected to compete in the 100-yard Butterfly and 100-yard Freestyle. Oliveira kicks off his week on Mar. 13 with the 100-yard Butterfly, with prelims at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. Oliveira won't compete again until the 100-yard Freestyle on the last day of the championships on Mar. 15.
"It's been a fantastic journey for him this year," Young said. "He was on this same stage last year and looking to make sure that he can capitalize on this oppurtunity. It's about making sure that he stays present and doesn't think because he made it last year that he shouldn't make it again. He's very dialed in and ready to go and he's always an exciting swimmer to watch."
South Atlantic Conference Elite 23 winner Asger Hartvig earned individual selection in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke, and 200 IM events. Hartvig wrapped up the regular season with record-breaking performances at the South Atlantic Conference Championships in early February. Hartvig's first action of the week comes in the 200-yard IM, beginning with prelims at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. Hartvig won't swim again until Mar. 14 when he competes in the 100-yard Breaststroke. Hartvig will close out the week with the 200-yard Breaststroke, with finals beginning at 5:30 p.m.
"He's our team captain and senior." said Young. "The amount of development throughout his four years with the program is utimatley the defintion of what this program wants to be. Seeing him come into this final Nationals as focused as he is, I'm very excited to see what he is able to do."
Joining the Eagles' nationals squad are Will Humphreys and Arthur Gluzman to accompany the team for the relay events.
"I'm extremely excited to watch the 200-yard medley and 400-yard medley relay with the four boys," Young said. "Leading off with Will Humphreys who has continued to break through barriers and surprise people. A year ago he was coming back from a massive surgery and the amount of effort and focus he has had throughout the season is incredible. This is redemption for Arthur. He was just outside of being invited this year so he's here to show what his character is all about. It is heartbreaking but it's about how you bounce back and I can't wait to see what Arthur brings to the table. He's been training really well the last few weeks, and for him it's makng sure that he pieces together the race that we all know the he's capabe of."
