Taylor tallies SAC Player of the Week plaudit

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Behind a pair of double-doubles, Lindsey Taylor secured the second South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week award for her career announced by the league on Monday guiding the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 start to SAC play.
Monday is the second time in her career that she has earned SAC weekly honors taking home the honor on Jan. 25, 2021 following a week where she posted 19 points and 11 rebounds in wins over Mars Hill, Tusculum and Wingate.
The preseason first-team All-SAC selection registered 55 minutes and racking up 17.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game shooting 52 percent from the floor, going 15-for-29.
Helping lead Carson-Newman to its largest win at Tusculum since 1999, the junior racked up her first double-double of the season finishing with a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds going 9-for-14 from the field and making eight of 14 at the free-throw line. The Maryville, Tenn. native added two steals in 23 minutes on the hardwood.
Three days later, Taylor helped the team hit triple digits for the first time with a 105-70 win over Queens in the first home contest of the year. She recorded a second straight double-double to bring her career tally to nine with 17 points and 13 rebounds with three assists in 21 minutes.
Through the first four games of the year, the Furman transfer leads the conference in efficiency making 63 percent from the floor and field goals made with 20. Taylor is the third-leading scorer in the league with 17.3 points per game ranking third in free throws made with 17, second in free-throw attempts with 31 and second in double-doubles with two.
Taylor leads the Lady Eagles into the Peach Belt for a non-conference matchup against unbeaten Clayton State on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. from Barfield Court.
