JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman women's golf will wrap up an impressive showing in a full fall schedule as they trek south to Flagler College.
The last time the Eagles made their way to Flagler was the fall of 2019. The 2019 tournament saw a fifth-place showing from Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) and a 13th-place finish from the Carson-Newman group Cummins landed on the All-Tournament team in 2019, just six shots out of first.
Ellie Haughton (Lincolnshire, England) was also on that 2019 squad, and she finished eight shots behind Cummins with a share of 26th. The then freshman carded rounds of 74 and 80 on her way to a 10-over 154.
Kelsey Hutson's group is young, but the potential is there as Cummins and Haughton return to a familiar course. The lone upperclassmen have been the clear leaders this fall for Hutson's squad, with the C-N group finding good bits of success here and there.
The last time they were in action, the Eagles locked in the second place finish at the Jekyll Island Invite with a grand total of 595. Carson-Newman finished just behind Columbus State who finished with a total of 589. The 19 over par performance for Carson-Newman was good enough to secore them a spot over third place Central Oklahoma.
The Carson-Newman group has not finished outside the top-five in an event this fall, and hopes to carry over momentum into their last event of the year.
The 36-Hole tournament will take place over the course of two days, and live scoring can be found on GolfStat along with full recaps on cneagles.com
