Matchup with LMU pushed back
With looming rain and storms in the forecast for the Lakeway Region, Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial’s Sunday meeting from Science Hill High School has been pushed back.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Sunday's women's soccer matchup between Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial is now slated to take place Tuesday at 5 p.m. from the LMU Soccer Complex in Harrogate, Tenn. The game was originally scheduled to take place Sunday at 4:30 p.m. from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, but soaking rains in the forecast across East Tennessee the past couple of days forced the change.
When action takes place, C-N will look to continue their winning streak and retake the top spot in pod 3 as LMU currently holds the top spot with 10 points right in front of C-N with nine. In the first matchup of 2021, LMU was able to battle back and claim the crucial 2OT victory as they scored the game-winner with only 24.3 seconds left on the clock from McCown Field on Feb. 25.
Tuesday will be the 30th edition of an east Tennessee rivalry in which C-N leads the all-time-record at 18-9-2, including three out of the last five matchups. The two have met every year since 1994, except for in 2005. When the matchup commences from Harrogate, Carson-Newman is 9-2-0 all-time and have not lost there since September 3, 1997. The Eagles also enter Tuesday on a three-match SAC winning streak, looking to extend it to four straight for the first time since October 2018.
