JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman volleyball's Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) and men's golf's Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) have been named the Chick-Fil-A Male and Female Athletes of the Week.
Senior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished the best 54-hole tournament in South Atlantic Conference history carding a final round 69 at the Saint Leo's Invitational at Lake Jovita Country Club to finish in a two-way tie for second-place.
Hall fired rounds of 68, 65 and 69 during his three rounds at Lake Jovita to best the previous low-score of Catawba's Todd Sapere who shot a 204 at the Camp Lejeune Invitational in 1997.
The Carson-Newman men's golf team finished the tournament in a tie for seventh with third-ranked South Carolina Aiken and ahead of ranked foes Limestone and Columbus State.
Hall used four birdies and just one bogie for his final round total of 69. The senior carded three birdies on the back-nine to finish one stroke off the tournament winner. The Knoxville-native recorded 18 birdies during his three rounds.
Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) Piled up a double-double, her fourth and fifth of the season, in each match she played this week as she helped guide Carson-Newman to a pair of 3-1 wins over the weekend. She has at least 30 assists 12 times in 14 matches this year.
Patton averaged 9.86 assists over the two games with 3.29 digs. She also dropped four kills between the two matches.
