C-N moves back into top 20 in coaches, media polls
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- For the third week this season, Carson-Newman is ranked in the top 20 of both the AFCA and D2Football.com polls.
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- For the third week this season, Carson-Newman is ranked in the top 20 of both the AFCA and D2Football.com polls.
C-N moved up two positions in both polls, to 19th in the AFCA Coaches Poll and to 20th in the D2Football.com media poll, both organizations releases Monday after noon.
The South Atlantic Conference has three teams ranked. Lenoir-Rhyne is a spot back of C-N in the coaches poll, sitting in 20th. The Bears fell out of the D2Football.com poll last week following a 14-10 loss to the final SAC team ranked.
Wingate, whom C-N will play for the SAC title, is now 23rd in the coaches poll and 18th in the media poll.
This is Carson-Newman's 151st week ranked since the year 2000 by either D2Football.com or the AFCA. Carson-Newman has been nationally ranked more than any other league institution since the turn of the century.
C-N was ranked in the month of September (outside of a preseason poll) for the first time since 2014. Carson-Newman has been ranked for eight weeks this season, the most since C-N was ranked in nine polls in the 2014 season.
C-N will be in action Saturday at 3 p.m. at Wingate for the South Atlantic Conference Championship.
