DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Carson-Newman senior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) won his first career tournament Tuesday afternoon by carding a final round 66 to win the University of North Georgia Fall Invitational with a three-round 14-under 202 by four strokes at the Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Ga.
Hall tied his South Atlantic Conference three-round total he set last week at the Saint Leo's Invitational. A Carson-Newman golfer has now won the UNG Fall Invitational for the second-straight year after Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada) the 2014 edition in a four-hole playoff.
The Eagles finished second in the team competition, four strokes behind the Lee Flames. C-N recorded the lowest score during the final round with a 278.
"I am really excited about winning and keeping the individual title at Carson-Newman afetr Nick won last year," Hall said. "It's really fun anytime you are making a lot of birdies. I thought the team played great, too. It seems like we are getting better each week which is all you can ask for. I think if we keep it up, we will start winning some titles."
Hall shot his second-straight 66 on Tuesday, which is his fifth round in the 60s out of his last six rounds; the Knoxville-native's lone round outside of the 60s was a 70 during Monday's first round. Devault had the Eagles' lone eagle of the tournament on Tuesday. Devault played even-par on par-threes and fours and played the par-fives at six-under. The senior shot a six-under 210 during the three rounds.
Junior Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) finished in a tie for 17th after shooting his second-straight round of 71 for a three-round total of two-under 214; Reese now has three below-par rounds on the year. Kennedy's best holes came on par-fours where the Canadian averaged 4.03 strokes and finished the tournament at one-over on the par-fours.
Lee won the team competition by four strokes over the Eagles, while the West Georgia Wolves finished seven strokes behind C-N in third. Lee's Shea Sylvester and Peyton Sliger finished second and third, respectively. Sylvester bested Hall's tournament-record round of 66 with a 65 during Tuesday's round.
