JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team (5-8) will compete in the Eagle Watch Classic in Woodstock, Ga., as they travel to face the North Georgia Nighthawks (8-8) on Wednesday for a 12 p.m. start time.
The Eagles, who has been battling injuries for the duration of this season, have lost their last five matches and six out of their last eight. During the rough patch of play, the Eagles have been outscored a combined 66-24.
"This match is another opportunity for us to get better and to work on the process of competing," coach Jean Love said looking forward.
They will look to improve on the statistic as they head down south for a non-conference friendly against a team that is sitting in 10th-place in the Peach Belt Conference standings.
The Nighthawks will bring to the table a few players who have experienced respectable success this year while playing fierce competition. Hannah Stanford posts a 7-4 record in singles play on the year and teammates Natalia Escobar and Simone King boast a 5-4 records in doubles.
A win on Wednesday would not only give Carson-Newman there first victory in 18 days, but it would also give them some momentum heading into their last two South Atlantic Conferences matches of the regular season.
