WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- C-N heads to the JDL College Team Challenge to kick off a busy weekend for the Eagles.
Carson-Newman track and field is headed to the JDL College Team Challenge at the JDL Fast Track tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 9, for a one-day event in Winston-Salem, N.C. The rest of the Eagle team will be in Virginia Beach, Va. over the weekend for the Division II Pre-Nationals meet.
"It's a nice busy weekend for us with two meets. For JDL, we are taking a big group of the team there. We want to put some good times down. For a lot of our athletes, we are hoping to maybe get some marks for events they haven't done yet so we can take that into conference as well," track and field coach Kieran Showler-Davis said.
The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m., and track events will be run fast to slow throughout the evening. Field and running events will occur simultaneously, and results will be posted on live.jdlfasttrack.com.
The Eagles will return to the JDL Fast Track later in February for the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
"Getting to run on the same track you will run on in a few weeks' time when the stakes are higher, you kind of get a good feel for it. Hopefully, you can go back there with the mindset that you had a good race on this track last time, so you know you can do it the next time as well," Showler-Davis said.
The Eagles will compete starting at 5:00 p.m. at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Thursday, Feb. 9. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
