Four Jumpers Compete at First Track and Field Event of Season
Four jumpers participated in the John Weaver Invitational at Appalachian State University’s Holmes Convocation Center.
BOONE, N.C. – Four jumpers participated in the John Weaver Invitational at Appalachian State University's Holmes Convocation Center.
In the first event of the 2024-25 indoor track and field season, jumps coach Sam Cleek took four of his jumpers to participate at the home of the Mountaineers.
Verrol Sam finished second in the men's high jump with a cleared attempt of 2.02m, just behind Lees-McRae's Jayden Green. Verrol was the only man from Carson-Newman to compete.
All three women competed in one event: the women's long jump.
Sydney McCarty bagged a silver finish behind Appalachian State's Jahaila Wright with a distance of 5.64 m. Brooke Taylor also competed in the event placing fifth with a distance of 5.44 m while Brooke Visser placed sixth with a jump of 5.16 m.
