JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Andre Morrison has been recognized as the Southeast Region's Track Athlete of the Year.
Andre Morrison (Spanish Town, Jamaica) has been the talk of Carson-Newman Track and Field ever since he initially broke the school record in the 60m dash initially held entering the season by 13-time All-American Devon Moore. Then, broke his own record two more times including once at the NCAA Division II 60m Championship heat to take home the crown.
He has been named the Southeast Regional Male Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
He became the first 60m National Champion for Carson-Newman and the first individual national champion for the Eagles since Makanakaishe Charamba won the 100m and 200m dashes in 2023. Charamba has since gone on to represent Zimbabwe at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Morrison now looks to continue his stellar sprinting during the outdoor schedule.
"I am a very mysterious person," Morrison said. "I tend to not show my tricks, but I have a trick up my sleeve, so to all of my opponents, watch out."
Carson-Newman Track and Field began its outdoor season at the Lee Invitational and returns to action on March 28 at the Blue & Gold Invitational in Emory, Va. before traveling south to participate in the Don McGarey Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga.
