C-N Men's Track and Field Debuts at No. 22 in Initial USTFCCCA Poll
After strong showings in back-to-back weeks, the Carson-Newman Men’s Track and Field team has debuted as No. 22 in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After strong showings in back-to-back weeks the Carson-Newman Men's Track and Field team has debuted as No. 22 in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has placed the men's side of Carson-Newman Track and Field at No. 22 nationally. It joins Wingate as the only other school from the South Atlantic Conference and the Southeast Region in the poll.
The poll was released on January 28 and is the first for the indoor track and field slate. According to the USTFCCCA, the top five are Grand Valley State, Pittsburg State, Colorado School of Mines, Wingate, and West Texas A&M.
The Eagles earned 39.18 "points" in the poll sandwiched in between Oklahoma Baptist with 39.82 points and California State-Pueblo with 37.20 points.
Despite the men's side being the only C-N team to make the top 25, the Carson-Newman women debuted on their side of the poll at 56 of 126 ranked teams.
Carson-Newman Track and Field is back in action on February 8 for a split-team day with part of the team heading to the VMI Winter Classic in Lexington, Va. while the other part of the team will head to Indianapolis for the Fairgrounds Invitational.
