Eagles finish third at Rendleman; Ashby, Kim-Moss tie for fourth
SALISBURY, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles shot a two-over par 286 in the final round to grab third place in the 17-team field at the 2012 Rendleman Invitational, held Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury. The Eagles finished 11 strokes behind team-champion UNC Pembroke which finish the tournament at 571 (+3). UNCP shot a tournament-low four-under 280 in the final round to win by 10 strokes. C-N finished one stroke behind Lincoln Memorial University.

The Eagles finished 11 strokes behind team-champion UNC Pembroke which finish the tournament at 571 (+3). UNCP shot a tournament-low four-under 280 in the final round to win by 10 strokes. C-N finished one stroke behind Lincoln Memorial University.
Senior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) and sophomore Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Ontario, Can.) finished tied with each other for fourth at 141 (-1). Ashby followed his opening round 70 with an even-par 71 on Tuesday, while Kim-Moss finished the tournament with a one-under 70 on Tuesday.
The Eagle pair finished two shots back of medalist Adam Hedges of Belmont Abbey. Hedges finished at 139 (-3) for 36 holes.
Junior Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) was sixth, a stroke behind Ashby and Kim-Moss at 142 (E) for the event. He shot a pair of 71s.
Senior Alex Coughlin (Jefferson City, Tenn.) shook off a tough first round to shoot 74 (+3) on Tuesday, while Jordan Patrick (Abingdon, Va.) finished with a 75 (+4). Coughlin finished 68th and Patrick 80th.
Carson-Newman travels to Orangeburg, S.C. on Sunday to play in the 2012 Magnolia Invitational. The 36-hole event will be held Monday and Tuesday (March 12-13) at Orangeburg Country Club.
