Bio
2024 (Sophomore): Was the Eagles top setter logging 1,013 assists in her second year with the Eagles and is the first time a Carson-Newman setter has reached the mark since 2021. She is also the 15th Eagle in history to dish 1,000 assists in a single season. She also averaged 9.83 assists/set, a mark good enough to land her 9th all-time in Eagles history in assists/set in a single season. Cherry was 2nd among all SAC setters in assists/set. At the end of the 2024 season, her 1736 career assists land her 8th all-time in the Carson-Newman record books. She was also an offensive weapon, collecting 111 kills, highlighted by the Sept. 27 match at Tusculum, where she came just a kill shy of the first triple-double in program history. She shined on multiple fronts for C-N with 17 double-doubles, ending the season with six in a row. Cherry's 37 service aces led the team and her 274 digs were 3rd amongst her teammates.

2023 (Freshman): Was the Eagles' primary setter, playing in all 30 matches starting in 13. She recorded 239 digs, 62 kills, and 24 service aces. She led the team with 723 assists. Excelled in the match against No. 24 Wingate collecting a season-high 52 assists and 19 digs. Collected a season-high five kills in a match five times.
HIGH SCHOOL: Cherry joins the program after leading the region in career aces, accumulating 191 in her high school career. She also racked up 659 career kills and 864 career digs. The setter from Knoxville has a decorative list of personal and team honors from her time at Knoxville Catholic High School. She was a four-time all-region pick, making first-team all-region her sophomore, junior and senior year, on top of a first-team all-state and first-team 5StarPreps pick her junior and senior year. Cherry helped her team collect a regional championship in 2021 and 2022 and a state championship in 2022. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the 30+ ACT club. Her father, Brooks Cherry, played baseball at Freed Hardeman. Her sister, Blake Cherry is also a Carson-Newman volleyball athlete.

College Sports Communicators announced their 2025 Academic All-District® teams on Tuesday. Blair Cherry, Emerson Ahsmuhs, Maddie Hurst, and Trinity Hafey represented C-N on this year’s teams.
After a first-set victory for C-N, Flagler’s offense powered through Carson-Newman’s tough serving to wrap up the Eagles’ first trip to the NCAA Tournament in three years.
The South Atlantic Conference office has chosen Blair Cherry as this year’s Elite 23 Award winner for volleyball.
Eagles push the Bulldogs in each of the first two sets but fall in three in the second round of the conference tournament.

The Eagles used every weapon to collect their first SAC tournament victory in three years and travel to the tournament site on Friday against #15 Wingate.
The Eagles grabbed the victory against the Newberry Wolves in four sets and will host UVA Wise in the SAC quarterfinals following a 14-4 conference record.

Cat Collins’ squad picked up their first 20-win season under her guidance, while Dziczkowski and Hurst set new single-match highs in hitting percentage.

Emerson Ahsmuhs and Maddie Hurst dominated the front lines, combining for 31 kills to seal the victory.
Volleyball delivered a classic five-set win, taking Coker to extra points in the fifth set while Maddie Hurst and Blair Cherry set all-time records in kills and assists.

Carson-Newman is coming off their third loss of the season to Anderson. All three losses for the Eagles have been against SAC opponents, and will look to tip their SAC record scales above .500 with a midweek matchup against Lincoln-Memorial.
