ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the seventh time in program history, Carson-Newman has landed three Eagles on the All-South Atlantic Conference lists with Alex Hodge receiving second-team accolades while Jake Mynatt and Will Collins garnering honorable mentions, as announced by the league office on Friday morning.
This is the first time since 2019 that a trio of Eagles have been recognized by the conference. For each of the past six seasons, Carson-Newman has been represented on the lists by at least two players, with 16 honored in that span. Since 1998, C-N has had 47 All-SAC recipients, the most in league history.
The Orange and Blue trio started in all four events for the team this season, playing in a combined 37 rounds with a 72.54 scoring average and seven top-20 finishes.
For Hodge and Mynatt, these latest accolades bring them each to two SAC annual awards in their careers while this is the first for Collins.
Hodge paces the team with a career-low 71.9 scoring average this year with C-N, starting at the No. 1 position in three events, thus far. The Knoxville, Tenn. native's second-straight All-SAC Second Team honor comes after landing three top-20 finishes this season with two in the top 10. His best performance this season came at the season-opening Hurricane Invitational where an even 216 gave him a share of eighth.
Mynatt has not been an All-Conference selection since receiving Honorable Mention laurels during his freshman campaign in 2019. This year, the Knoxville, Tenn. native is scoring at a 72.8 clip in 13 rounds, also a career-best. He has been in the top 20 twice on the year, both of those coming in the top three. The last of those outings was a second-place finish at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate where he was 11-under with a 205, matching the second-lowest 54-hole score of an Eagle at the event in program history. Playing as an individual with the B-Team at the WindRiver Invitational in March 1, the junior won the event with a 1-under 71 in the only round that was played.
Like his fellow honorable mention pick, Collins is also averaging a 72.8 round this season, the lowest single-season average of his career. Hailing from Knoxville, Tenn., he has tallied a pair of top-20 finishes during the campaign. His best showing was a tie for 11th at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, firing a 1-under 215, the lowest 54-hole mark of his career. His 69 in the second round of that event also matched his career-low single round score.
These conference honors come just days before the start of the SAC Championship tournament, set for Monday and Tuesday from the Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tenn.
