Lady Eagles Claim Fifth Place at Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team shot a second-round 331 (+43) to move up two spots and claim fifth place at the 2010 Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Sea Trail Golf Resort.
The Lady Eagles finished the tournament with a two-day total of 665 (+89) in a field with nine South Atlantic Conference squads, including seven that finished in the top 10. Tarleton State won the event with a score of 614 (306-308, +38), followed by UNC Pembroke with a 633 (316-317, +57), Lincoln Memorial with 653 (324-329, +77) and Catawba with a 658 (325-333, +82).
C-N senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Ten.) finished in a tie for fourth after carding a 3-over 75 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 155 (+11). Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) and Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) each had scores of 168 (+24) to finish in a tie for 28th, while Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) shot an 86 and Heather Houser (Kingsport, Tenn.) turned in an 87 to finish with totals of 174 and 177, respectively.
Tarleton State's Carla Cooper won medalist honors with a two-round total of 146 (71-75, +2).
The Lady Eagles return to the course on Oct. 18 in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational at Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, N.C.
