Lady Eagles claim fourth at Newberry College Invitational
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team shot a final-round 348 (+52) on Tuesday to claim fourth place at the 2011 Newberry College Invitational at Moss Creek Golf Course in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The Lady Eagles finished the tournament with a two-day total of 684 (+92). UNC Pembroke won the title by 11 strokes after carding a 321 (+25). The Braves wrapped up the event with a two-round total of 637 (+45). Tournament host Newberry College claimed second with a score of 648 (+56).
C-N senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) turned in an 81 (+7) on Tuesday to finish in a tie for eighth place. Tarbet put together a two-round total of 163 (+15).
Junior Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished tied for 27th with a two-day score of 173 (84-89), while Erica Ray's (Maryville, Tenn.) score of 175 (88-87) was good enough to tie for 31st. Louise McGillivray (Banchory, Scotland) tied for 35th with a score of 176 (85-91), and Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) finished with a score of 177 (85-92).
UNC Pembroke's Katja Dammann fired a 2-over par 76 to claim the individual title with a two-round total of 153 (+5).
The Lady Eagles return to action on March 7-8 in the Rollins Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
