Lady Eagles finish second, Tarbet claims medalist honors at Agnes McAmis Memorial
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) carded a final-round74 (+2) to win medalist honors and lead the Carson-Newman Lady Eagles to a second place finish at the Agnes McAmis Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Tusculum College on Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club.
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) carded a final-round74 (+2) to win medalist honors and lead the Carson-Newman Lady Eagles to a second place finish at the Agnes McAmis Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Tusculum College on Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club.
Tarbet wrapped up the two-day event with a score of 147 (73-74, +3) as she held off Belmont Abbey's Michele Low, who shot a 149 (73-76, +5). The tournament win is Tarbet's second of her career and the 11th top five finish of her career.
The Lady Eagles shot a 315 on Tuesday to finish the event with a score of 629 (314-315, +53). The runner-up finish was C-N's second of the season.
Belmont Abbey claimed the team title with a two-round total of 600 (299-301, +24). Methodist University finished third with a 632, followed by Lincoln Memorial (640), Wingate (643) and Catawba (643). Host Tusculum College finished 11th with a 654, while Mars Hill was 15th with a 716.
C-N freshman Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) and junior Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 24th with a 161. Tunnell shot a final-round 79, while Oliver turned in an 80. Junior Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) recorded a two-day total of 167 (85-82) to tie for 51st place, and sophomore Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 56th with a score of 169 (78-91).
The Lady Eagles will return to action in the 2011 South Atlantic Conference Championships on April 11-12 at Rock Barn Country Club in Conover, N.C.
