Lady Eagles fourth, Tarbet tied for sixth after first day of SAC Women's Golf Championship

The Lady Eagles shot rounds of 319 and 324 on the par 71, 5,857-yard layout to finish the day with a score of 643 (+75). C-N is nine strokes off the pace set by tournament leader and defending champion Newberry College. The Wolves turned in a two-round total of 634 (311-323, +66) to take the lead heading into the final round.
Wingate University is in second place with a score of 639 (314-325, +71), followed by Lincoln Memorial with a score of 641 (308-333, +73), C-N with a 643 and Lenoir-Rhyne with a score of 647 (317-330, +79).
C-N senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) is in a tie for sixth place after carding a pair of 79s for a score of 158 (+16). Tarbet is eight shots back of Lenoir-Rhyne's Brenna Martens, who leads the tournament with a two-round total of 150 (72-78, +8).
Freshman Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) is tied for 14th after turning in a score of 161 (77-84, +19), while junior Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) is tied for 20th with a score of 164 (81-83, +22). Junior Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) is in a tie for 24th place with a 165 (82-83, +23), and sophomore Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) is tied for 30th with a score of 168 (89-79, +26).
Freshman Louise McGillivray (Banchory, Scotland), who is participating as an individual, is in 38th with a score of 172 (85-87, +30).
The final round of the 54-hole championship will be played on Tuesday.
