Sweep of women’s tennis drops the Eagles below .500

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Carson-Newman Women's Tennis fell 7-0 to #7 North Georgia, marking the Eagles' third loss in a row.
C-N Women's Tennis is 3-4 on the season with this loss, and dips them below .500 for the first time since they opened the season with a loss.
With every match going to decision, Hala Awad's unblemished singles record is foiled, moving the senior to 3-1 in her solo matches. Kira Baacke and Maria del Mar Sarda Marti's doubles team slips to 2-2 on the season.
The bright spot of the day was Awad and freshman Kerrigan Spiers win at third doubles. The pair hung tight to take down the Nighthawks 7-5.
In singles, three of the matches went to three sets. At second singles, Maris del Mar Sarda Marti pushed her opponent to a 3rd, but fell 7-5 in the final frame. Leah McBride battled back from a 6-1 set one loss to take set two 6-2 but fell 7-5 in the final set.
Mar Fraile who had been great at 5th singles for the Eagles narrowly let this match slip with scores of 7-6, 7-5, and 6-2.
Awad battled in her first set at the one spot, but dropped the match 6-4, 6-0. At third singles, Kerrigan Spiers took games off of Olesya Stokusova, but fell regardless 6-4, 6-3. At 6th singles, Andrea Aguiar fell in straight games.
Carson-Newman will wrap up their three-match road trip with a final showdown against #6 Catawba on Wednesday in Salisbury, N.C., where C-N will look to collect their first win since February 15th
