Women handle business on senior day against Pikeville
Carson-Newman Women’s Tennis took care of Pikeville in a 7-0 decision that saw first wins from seniors an well-earned celebrations.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Women's Tennis took care of Pikeville in a 7-0 decision that saw first wins from seniors an well-earned celebrations.
Carson-Newman's Women's Tennis team used the momentum that they generated during their happy senior day celebration to take a dominating victory over Pikeville. C-N was honoring the three seniors, Hala Awad, Belen Blasco, and Maria del Mar Sarda Marti for their contributions to Carson-Newman Tennis before the match.
With the win, the Eagles are now one match away from leveling their overall record to .500. C-N is 8-9 in 2026.
Because Pikeville only had four players, C-N collected some of their wins by default, including at the third doubles line. Maria del Mar Sarda Marti and Belen Blasco were the second pairing, with Blasco playing in her first match of the spring. In what was a full circle moment, Blasco and Mar Sarda Marti took a 6-1 victory. The one's pair of Sindija Manovska and Hala Awad also cleaned up a 6-1 win.

Then in singles, Mia Dyer and Katarina DiNova both grabbed wins by default at sixth and fifth singles, respectively.
From there up, the Eagles won every match in straight sets and games until the one's line. Sophia Caminiti took a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles, marking her second singles win of the year.
Andrea Aguiar did the same to Elizabeth Davis at third singles. Aguiar is one of four players who have won more singles matches than they have lost. She is 4-3 in her singles matches this season.
At second singles, the senior Maria del Mar Sarda Marti won on her senior day, while Hala Awad at the first line was up 6-4 in the first set when her opponent retired.
This is the Eagles' sixth sweep of the year and second win in a row.
The women hope to take this energy into the end of their season when they take on Mars Hill on the road. Then, they round out the season with Lincoln Memorial and #28 Newberry at home.
