Edisa Hot joins Nathan Gangelhoff’s staff as a graduate assistant coach
Gangelhoff adds former No. 1 player to staff ahead of his second year at the helm.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Head tennis coach Nathan Gangelhoff announced the hiring of former Carson-Newman women's tennis player Edisa Hot as his graduate assistant coach.
"I'm thrilled to announce that Edisa Hot, our former No. 1 singles player from last year, will now step into the role of our graduate assistant," Gangelhoff said. "I'm excited I get to coach with her now."
A native of Montenegro, Hot arrived in Mossy Creek before last season. She posted a 9-11 record, including 2-6 in Southern Atlantic Conference play, and also went 10-4 in doubles with five different partners.
Before Carson-Newman, she spent four seasons in the NAIA, first at Tennessee Wesleyan University from 2020 to 2022 and then at Bethel University for her junior and senior seasons.
While at Bethel, she developed into not only the best player on the team but also the best in the Mid-South Conference, earning the 2024 Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year honors.
The first-team all-MSC player led her team to the MSC Championship before losing to Lindsey Wilson, 4-0. Hot finished her Bethel career with a 26-8 overall record.
Gangelhoff is excited for Hot to utilize her extensive experience to help grow the Carson-Newman program.
"Edisa has a great passion for the game and for our players," Gangelhoff said. "She also has a great mind for coaching and has the natural teaching ability to develop players."
The men's and women's tennis teams open their seasons at the Mossy Creek Dual on Sept. 4.
