ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman women's cross country team was slated 6th overall in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll the league announced Wednesday morning.
The women's cross country squad begins the 2025 season ranked 6th in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
The sixth place ranking we got is an indicator of where we finished last year," said head coach Brent Borden. "It's a good starting mark and we obviously want to work up towards those top three teams.I think we can get to the likes of LMU, Anderson, and potentially Catawba if we have a really good year on the women's side and stay healthy with the newcomers and returners."
The league also announced the Eagles runners Jenna Pittman (junior), Peyton Couch (junior), and Emma Roberts (freshmen) were named to the SAC Runners to Watch List for the 2025 season.
"I think it's a big deal,"said Borden. "Getting your name on a list is a big deal for a runner but you don't want to let it go to your head. We're looking for postseason accolades and not preseason. We don't attach too much meaning to it, but it is cool to show that they have put in a lot of work over the years."
