JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman cross country heads south this Friday, Oct. 3, for the Georgia Tech Invitational at Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn, Ga. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
This marks the fifth consecutive season the Eagles have competed at Bouckaert Farm.
"This is a familiar course that the team has raced on for the last several years," said head coach Brent Borden. "Dating back to 2021, we've gone there every season. It's yielded a lot of good results for us and has been a big confidence booster in the past. We've had strong team and individual performances in Fairburn, and I expect no different this weekend."
After tackling a challenging course last weekend at the SAC Preview meet, the Eagles are looking for the Georgia Tech Invitational to provide a reset moving forward.
"We're hoping to see a lot of personal bests with this being a relatively flat course, especially compared to what we faced last week," Borden said. "It will be a bit of a refresher for the team after such a tough challenge. We train for whatever environments we face, and that's what cross country is all about—handling different courses and conditions."
The invitational features a diverse field, including Division I programs and South Atlantic Conference competition.
"It's a really good field, similar to what we saw at the Southern Showcase earlier this season," Borden added. "You run up to your competition, and that helps elevate performances. Especially on the women's side, we're getting closer to competing with programs like Chattanooga and Wofford—schools we aspire to match up with."
Carson-Newman competes at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3, at Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn, Ga. The meet begins at 8:30 a.m.
