Eagles Make Final Trip Of The Season At Southeast Regional Meet
Carson-Newman makes a push for a National Meet bid at the Southeast Regional meet this Saturday morning
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman cross country makes its final trip of the season to the Southeast Regional Meet at the Wingate Cross Country Course in Wingate, N.C., this Saturday, Nov. 8, with the first race set for 10:00 a.m.
The Southeast Regional meet will feature the men's team competing in a 10k and the women racing in a 6k.
"We're looking forward to a good showing this weekend for both squads," said head coach Brent Borden. "We've prepared all year for these championship meets that take place throughout October and November. All the work has been done—now it's about going out there and executing on race day."
Coming off the SAC Championship at Tusculum University, the Eagles look to make some noise in the Southeast Region and push for All-Region performances.
"At the SAC Championship, the women went toe-to-toe with Lenoir-Rhyne, LMU, and Anderson, and it'll be no different this weekend," said Borden. "It's a toss-up between us, LMU, North Greenville, and Augusta—those teams are going to be the wildcards."
Heading into the regional meet, runners Jenna Pittman and Kiereionna Wilson are striving for All-Region honors and a potential bid for the National Meet on Nov. 22.
"Both of them have run very well all season, and I'm very proud of the way Jenna has progressed and competed," Borden stated. "Kiereionna has really surprised us—she's been our number two, and at times our top runner, for the women's team."
The Eagles look to close out the 2025 season on a strong note and potentially earn a spot at the national meet on Nov. 22.
