Gregory notches second honor of the day with TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Following another sizzling week, Grace Gregory (White House, Tenn.) has been named has been named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association State Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Following another sizzling week, Grace Gregory (White House, Tenn.) has been named has been named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association State Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
In her first season with Carson-Newman, Gregory has been a focal point in the heart of the order and defensively at third base. This past week, the senior was 7-for-14 at the plate with a home run and six runs batted in with three multi-hit games. Against Catawba on Thursday, she was 5-for-7 with six RBIs across the two games, with a first-inning home run in game one. Over the past 12 games, Gregory has energized the Eagles' offense, going 21-for-40 at the plate, .525, totaling five home runs and 20 RBIs.
So far this season, the White House native has nine home runs to lead C-N and sits fifth in the SAC in that category. Additionally, her 43 RBI are the second-most on the team and the third-best in the conference. Gregory has 13 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games.
This is Gregory's first weekly TSWA honor, she was named the SAC Player of the Week this morning as well. This season, it is Carson-Newman's fourth TSWA Player/Pitcher of the Week honors, most recently Atiana Stamper (Knoxville, Tenn.) won pitcher of the week on March 31st.
The Eagles begin the home stretch of the regular season with their penultimate doubleheader against Emory & Henry on Wednesday in Jefferson City. The twin bill is set for a 1:00 p.m. start in Jefferson City, Tennessee, at the Vickee-Kazee Hollifield Softball Complex.
