Emerson Ahsmuhs collects all-region honors for both the D2CCA and AVCA
The sophomore’s outstanding year continues with well-deserved recognition, grabbing the first all-region honors of her collegiate career.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The sophomore's outstanding year continues with well-deserved recognition, grabbing the first all-region honors of her collegiate career.
Ahsmuhs was selected to the first team by both the AVCA and the D2CCA for the Southeast Region. She is the first Eagle to make either the all-region team since a pair of Eagles did so in 2022.
Ahsmuhs has made quite the jump from her freshman to her sophomore year. As a second-team All-SAC selection in her first year, the California native has improved in every category this season, making her a candidate for player of the year in both the SAC and the region. She was a first-team All-SAC selection in 2025, and the only Eagle honored on this year's all-region teams.
As a six rotation hitter for the Eagles, Ahsmuhs leads all conference opponents with 392 total kills and averages a league high 3.96 kills per set. Her total kill mark leads all other players by a margin of 60. She has consistently been in the top 25 of Division II in kills per set, and currently ranks 25th nationally in that category. Her offense has been relentless, landing 10 or more kills in 20 of the matches she's played this season. She also does it efficiently. Her .262 kitting percentage is 12th in the SAC.
Her defense has also been nothing short of outstanding. Ahsmuhs is 2nd on the team and 10th in the SAC in digs per set (3.82). She has dug out at least ten balls nineteen times this season. For her efforts, she has been rewarded with a team-leading 13 double-doubles. She is one of the few players in the last 15 years for Carson-Newman to record 20 kill-20 dig games, and the only Eagle since 2009 to do it twice in a season.
She is the only player in the SAC with 300 kills and 300 digs, and one of seven players in the nation to hit that mark. She has been honored twice this season by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as player of the week, as well as the SAC WePlayed Offensive Player of the Week.
15 kills in the NCAA Tournament; Ahsmuhs can hit the 700-career-kill mark.
For the D2CCA Poll, seven selections to the All-Region teams were from the SAC, with Wingate grabbing four spots on the All-Region list. Wingate landed five on the AVCA list, and SAC schools nabbed 12 of the 20 spots. Wingate's Lauren Tekavec and Sydney Morland earned coach and player of the year on both lists.
