Women's Soccer v. Tusculum
Felicia Frick's first career hat trick fueled the Eagles to a 4-0 shutout win over rival Tusculum on November 5th. C-N's four-goal outburst was the fifth time this season that it scored four goals or more in a game. Simon Duffy's team dominated the game, recording a season-high 26 shots and holding TU to just five. The +21 advantage in shots was the most this season. Selina Jud scored C-N's other goal, with Molly Bukiewicz and Audrey Gallagher assisting on goals in the win as well.
Women's Soccer v. Young Harris
Carson-Newman shutout an 11-win Young Harris squad 3-0 on October 8th. At the time, the win extended C-N's unbeaten streak to four straight games. The win also extended C-N's winning streak in non-conference games to four, its longest such streak since 2017. Five different players helped contribute to the 3-0 win, with Malia Kim's one goal, one assist day leading the way.
Men's Soccer at Wingate
For the first time in two decades, C-N won back-to-back meetings versus Wingate, rallying from an early 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 on the road. The Bulldogs scored in the 6th minute to put the Eagles behind. C-N stayed with it and found an equalizer in the final seconds of the first half, seeing Mitchell Honcoop score a penalty kick goal. The Eagles took the lead 13 minutes into the second half on Maxime Wester's first goal of the season. Entering the game, C-N was 0-7-1 when allowing the game's first goal and was winless in 14 straight such games.
Women's Basketball v. Clayton State
Carson-Newman drilled a season-high 17 three-pointers to pummel Clayton State 96-58 on November 21st. It was the most made three-pointers in a road or neutral site game since making 19 against Mars Hill on January 24, 2018. The Lady Eagles offense was super efficient to score a season-high 96 points. They shot 51.5%, marking the 81st game in the Mincey era with at least 50% shooting. A 20-point halftime lead turned into a 45-point lead thanks to an exceptional third quarter. C-N's defense forced Clayton State into 0-14 shooting and eight turnovers in the third, scoring its only point of the period at the foul line with three seconds left. It was the first time holding an opponent without a field goal in a quarter since keeping Newberry scoreless on January 29, 2022.
Volleyball vs Tusculum
Volleyball ran through Tusculum at Holt Fieldhouse in what was a sharp shooting showcase. With set scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-13, this was the most lopsided game in favor of C-N since October 15, 2022 when the Eagles held Coker to a combined 36 points. The Eagles put down 49 kills and hit an astounding .616 on the match. Their four attack errors were a season low, and set a single-game record for attacking percentage in the history of Carson-Newman volleyball, beating the previous mark by nearly .200. Seven different Eagles landed kills in the game, with three reaching double-digits. Annie Dziczkowski set the single-game hitting percentage record of .714 with her 10 kills, and the entire C-N Offense held Tusculum to a record low 18 digs.
Volleyball vs Aiken
Volleyball swept through Aiken in their final game of the USC Aiken Tournament. The sweep of Aiken marked the first loss the Pacers have suffered at their home tournament in seven years. C-N held the Pacers to a .019 hit percentage. Emerson Ahsmuhs led the Eagles' attack with 17 kills on 41 swings.
Women's Golf at Savannah Lakes Invite
Carson-Newman fired a three-day 888 to finish third at the Savannah Lakes Invitational. The Eagles finished in front of five Clippd top-50 teams and three inside the top 25. Emry Fisher, Grace Lamber and Anaelle Picot all finished in the top 15, with Fisher winning the individual medalist honors for the tournament with a school record 211.
Football v. Lenoir-Rhyne
Carson-Newman produced a 24-7 throttling of No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne that saw C-N hold a nationally-ranked foe to its fewest points allowed since 1999. The defense held LR to just 266 total yards and completely shut them out in the second half. Lenoir-Rhyne's seven points were its lowest output against Carson-Newman since a 21-3 loss on Oct. 21, 2006. The Bears had scored at least two touchdowns in every game against C-N since then.
Football v. West Virginia State
The Eagles rolled up 477 yards on offense in a 41-10 beat down over West Virginia State. The Yellowjackets had six straight forays into Carson-Newman territory following a field goal all come up empty. The Yellowjackets opened the third quarter with two consecutive three-and-outs, followed by a fruitless five-down drive that ended in their third punt of the quarter.
Football at Anderson
Carson-Newman knocked the rust off after a slow start to score four times in their final six possessions and dominate South Atlantic Conference foe Anderson, 28-6. The Trojans boasted the best defense in the SAC heading into the matchup with C-N. Anderson had held opponents to 243 yards and 16 points per game over their previous seven contests. Saturday, the Eagles piled up 378 total yards and put the ball in the end zone four times. It was the second most points and second most yards Anderson has surrendered to an opponent this year.
Men's Basketball v. Lees-McRae
The triumvirate of Rylan Houck, Braden Ilic and Matt Bilbrey combined for 66 points and Carson-Newman used a late second half run to take a 98-79 decision from Lees-McRae. Houck and Bilbrey both reset their career highs with 25 and 20-point efforts, respectively. Ilic produced his fourth career 20-point game.
Men's Basketball at Lander
Carson-Newman got a 30-point, 15-rebound double-double from Jack Browder and used a man-to-man defense to confound Lander into a rough shooting night in a 74-61 win over the Bearcats. C-N held the Bearcats to 35.7 percent shooting and a 5-of-25 mark (20 percent) from beyond the arc.
Men's Basketball at Tusculum
How comprehensive was Carson-Newman's 100-73 win over Tusculum in Pioneer Arena? C-N head coach Chuck Benson's only problem with the night was some soggy fries in the pregame meal. Carson-Newman blew the barn doors off things after halftime, outscoring the Pioneers 53-32 in the second half en route to its first win by more than 20 in the series since the 2015-16 season.
