C-N's Newton named finalist for CSC Videographer of the Year
GOLDEN, Colo. - Carson-Newman freelance videographer CJ Newton has been named a finalist in the College Sports Communicators Creative and Digital Design Contest for Videographer of the Year.

GOLDEN, Colo. - Carson-Newman freelance videographer CJ Newton has been named a finalist in the College Sports Communicators Creative and Digital Design Contest for Videographer of the Year.
Newton shoots Carson-Newman football, men's basketball and women's basketball.
"I'm thrilled for CJ to be recognized for his work behind a camera," Carson-Newman Associate AD for External Operations/Media Relations Adam Cavalier said. "When CJ is at his best, he produces content that is outrageously good. We're grateful for him for helping our football and men's and women's basketball programs shine. Now we are blessed that he gets to be recognized for his work."
Winners of these contests will be announced live on-stage during the Special Awards Luncheon at CSC Unite 2026 on Wednesday, June 10 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The number of finalists for each contest is determined by the number of entries in each category, and all finalists represent the number of places that will be recognized for each category. For the College Division, "Best Of" honors will be bestowed upon the top finishers from each subdivision also based on the number of entries received.
Full contest results for all categories will be published following the conclusion of the Special Awards Luncheon on June 10.
Newton is no stranger to the CSC Digital Design Contest. Last year, Newton and Cavalier produced the organization's video of the year for the College Division and for Division II withr the men's basketball team's two-overtime win at Lenoir-Rhyne. Carson-Newman had another Best of Division II honor in Long Form Videos/Recaps/Features. Newton's recap of the football program's season-opening win over Reinhardt came in first in Division II. Meanwhile, Cavalier and Newton placed fourth for the football recap of a Mountain Division clinching win at Tusculum. Those entries finished in second, sixth and seventh, respectively in the College Division. Cavalier and Newton also placed eighth in the College Division for the recap of the EKG Eagles comeback at Mars Hill.
