KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After receiving votes in the first two iterations of the AFCA Coaches Poll, Carson-Newman has broken into the top 25, the organization released Monday.
This is Carson-Newman's 153rd week ranked since the year 2000 by either D2Football.com or the AFCA. Carson-Newman has been nationally ranked more than any other league institution since the turn of the century.
This marks a second consecutive season that Carson-Newman has been nationally ranked in the month of September (outside of a preseason poll). Carson-Newman was ranked for nine weeks last season, matching the most since C-N was ranked in nine polls in the 2014 season.
Carson-Newman gives the South Atlantic Conference a second ranked team. Lenoir-Rhyne sits in 17th in the D2Football.com poll and 21st in the AFCA Poll. Wingate is also receiving votes in the AFCA Poll.
C-N will be in action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Mars Hill at Meares Stadium. Pregame coverage begins at noon with the AEC Tailgate Show on Joy 620 (WRJZ-AM, Knoxville), MIX 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
