VALDOSTA, Ga. – Carson-Newman linebacker Cruz Temple (Abbeville, S.C.) and offensive lineman Jay'Den Williams (Moultrie, Ga.) have earned second-team all-region honors from the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association, the organization announced Thursday.
This marks a second consecutive year C-N has placed multiple players on the D2CCA all-region team. It is the first time for both Temple and Williams to make the all-region listing.
Temple was a first-team All-SAC pick at linebacker. Temple led Carson-Newman in tackles in 2025 with 66 stops, 31 of which were solo. He made 3.5 tackles for loss and had a sack. He hurried the QB seven times. He forced a fumble against Catawba while recovering one in the finale against Tusculum. Temple earned SAC and TSWA Player of the Week honors following C-N's 28-6 win at Anderson. He had nine tackles, a tackle for loss and three quarterback hurries.
Injured early in the year, Williams appeared in seven games with starts in five. A versatile lineman, Williams started games at left guard and at center. He was partly responsible for C-N leading the SAC in rushing for a second straight year. The Eagles averaged 245.7 yards per game on the ground – 10th best nationally. Furthermore, C-N was tops in the SAC in fewest sacks allowed and seventh nationally (0.8 per game), while ranking fourth in the league in fewest tackles for loss allowed (4.50 per game). Williams helped clear the way for eight different players to rush for at least 100 yards on the year. He personally did not allow a sack on the year.
